Born June 22, 1978 β Died October 3, 2025
Jerry Ray Shepard was born in the quaint town of Maple Brook and passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by loving family. He was the cherished son of Arnold Shepard and Clara (Benson) Shepard. His life was further shaped by his stepmother, Elsie (Morrow) Shepard, who played a significant role in his upbringing. He leaves behind his devoted children, Justin Shepard and Julie Shepard; his grandchildren Logan Shepard, Sara (Shepard) Reynolds, and Noah Shepard; and great-grandchildren Ava Reynolds, Ethan Reynolds, and Mia Shepard. His brother, Carl Shepard, and sister, Ellen (Shepard) Lawrence, along with numerous nieces and nephews, also survive him. Preceding him in death were his parents and his beloved wife, Emma (Porter) Shepard.
Jerry dedicated many years to Maple Brook Manufacturing, where he was a respected figure and an active member of the Workers' Alliance. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, and engaging in community service. He was always ready to lend a hand or share his expertise in crafts.
In his later years, Jerry was a frequent attendee of the Maple Brook Community Chapel with his daughter Julie. His spiritual life was understated but profound, characterized by practical faith and compassionate acts rather than grand declarations. To his family, he was affectionally known as "pop," a testament to his warm, paternal nature. To his community, he was a beacon of reliability and generosity, always there to support without expecting anything in return.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Linda from the Maple Brook Community Chapel will preside over the ceremony. Jerry chose cremation as his final arrangement.
